Portion Size: Then and Now

Pre-race run (and jitters!)

Saturday, November 1, 2008 2:37 No Comments

IMG_0419.JPGMeag again! Big morning at Tavern on the Green in NYC. Asics hosted a pre-marathon run around Central Park led by Olympians Deena Kastor and Ryan Hall. Self staffers and fellow marathoners Natalie Hawwa, Sheila Monaghan, Shira Gordon and Lauren Spencer joined me. Check out our happy snaps. After a 3 mile loop around the park, we got last minute pointers from the athletes and made race shirts with our names on them. Ryan says: Run the first 20 miles with your head and the last 6.2 with your heart. Deena is still recovering from her foot injury at Bejing (the boot is off and she’s finally cleared to run, although she biked alongside us today). Big news: She promises to be back in action for London!!! Afterward I headed to the Race Expo to pick-up my race number and shot to my nephew’s school in time for the Halloween parade. So I missed an office visit from Brandi Chastain and Kerri Strug. The Olympians are running the NYC Marathon on Sunday too with the ”Run for Something Better” program to fight childhood obesity. Go to orangelaces.com to find out how you can help support youth running and fitness education programs in schools. Don’t forget to track me on Sunday! I need a cheering squad. xx
