Protein Booster (dinner 1.19.09)
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 3:01 No CommentsSince it was near 40 degrees we took a nice long walk this afternoon
and I let Bruce run through the fresh 13 inches of snow we got this
weekend. He was so happy…and tired afterward!![]()
We took the easy way out tonight and reheated last night’s leftovers for our dinner. Mike has been so busy at work and I didn’t make the trek to the store today to get something so we went with what we had. We must have picked out a lot of the chicken sausage last night when we had our stir-fry because it was looking a little skimpy. To boost the protein content of the meal I used some garbanzo beans I had in the pantry. I am glad there was very little clean-up because that’ll help me in my quest to get to bed early! I am just going to read over my lecture slides one more time and then I am calling it a day! I hope to blog before I go to school tomorrow but if I don’t have time I will get breakfast up with my lunch. ![]()

This afternoon I had a glass of milk and the rest of my trail mix for my snack (I made the mixture at Whole Food’s Trail Mix Bar).

Another Warm Sandwich (lunch 1.19.09)
Monday, January 19, 2009 18:06 No CommentsThe Griddler was still set up on the counter so I made myself another warm sandwich for lunch – chunk lite tuna and American cheese on whole wheat. I better put it away today or I’ll be having these melted cheese sandwiches everyday! They seem to have replaced my old standby – Peanut Butter and Jelly for the time being. I am about to bundle us all up so we take a walk with Bruce outside. Hopefully most people have shoveled their sidewalks by now so that I don’t have to truck through too much snow. It’s been a productive morning so far and I hope to keep it going into the afternoon so that I can call it quits early and get a good night of sleep! ![]()

Sugar as a source of antioxidants?
Monday, January 19, 2009 17:07 No CommentsThis month’s issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association includes a study that compares the antioxidant content of different kinds of sugar. Katherine Phillips and her team at Viginia Tech found “substantial differences” in the different sugars they…
