Coca-Cola Back in the News for a 2nd Lawsuit
Thursday, January 29, 2009 1:03 No CommentsRecently, Coca-Cola’s Vitamin Water has come under fire for its “deceptive and unsubstantiated” health claims, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) For more than a year I’ve personally tried to explain to my weight loss…
Late, Late, Late (lunch 1.28.09)
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 21:15 No CommentsIt’s a good thing that I didn’t have to be anywhere today because I have been behind all day since waking up late this morning. Will is having a fussy day for some reason (very unlike him) so there hasn’t been much down time. We took Bruce out for a walk about 30 minutes too late — the snow had just changed over to sleet so we were all cold and wet by the time we got around the block (not Will, he was tucked away inside my jacket). I am actually happy the snow changed over to rain because there really is not any accumulation on the ground so we don’t have to worry about the parking and shoveling! I wasn’t hungry until well after lunchtime because breakfast was later than usual but when I did sit down to eat I had a turkey & cheese sandwich on a whole wheat bun with some tomato soup and 2 clementines. I am trying to catch back up so that dinner is not at midnight. I think I’ll be alright because I already got my pork loin into the slow cooker so it should be done around 8:30 (which may seem late but it’s what I was planning for because Mike has a basketball game). ![]()

Abs, Abs, and More Abs 2!
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 20:35 No CommentsIt’s been one week since I showed the world my belly and ……so far so good! I’ve stuck with my plan and feel more motivated than ever to get toned. Squeezing in the moves has been easy and fun. Each night before I go to sleep I hit the ground for five minutes of bicycles, then shower and get to bed. The posture, on the other hand, has been a little bit harder for me. I never realized how much I hunch over. So, I’ve decided to use store windows and mirrors as posture checkpoints this week. When I pass them, I’m giving myself the once over and making corrections. Hopefully that will help. Okay, so here’s the move to add this week.
AB Move-Stability Ball Crunches (crunches on the ball are 38% more effective than on the floor because the shape of the ball allows for a larger range of motion)
Lie with your lower back on the stability ball, feet flat shoulder width apart. Place hands behind your head, elbows out to the sides. Pull abs in and slowly crunch up a few inches. Lower to start. Repeat for 3 sets of 12.
AB Tip- Protect your neck by keeping about the distance of a fist distance between your chin and your chest while doing crunches.
A Little Food Humor
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 19:45 No CommentsRecently a good friend passed this on to me without any reference. As a Nutrition Consultant I always approach nutrition rather seriously but I have to say I certainly got a few chuckles from this: “Please join me in remembering…
High-fat diet? No problem! (Unless you’re stressed.)
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 16:37 No CommentsA study done at Georgetown University using mice found that a high fat diet did not provoke obesity. However, a high-fat diet combined with chronic stress, did. Another study, recently published in Circulation, found that mice exposed to air pollution…
