If so, then you might have difficulty taking off weight. According to Dr. Melina
Jampolis, the diet and fitness expert for CNNhealth.com, it is more difficult to control portion sizes when you eat with your eyes instead of your stomach. This is because people usually eat until their plate is clean or the bag of chips is empty.

You should never eat so much that you feel uncomfortable at the end of the meal. If you feel you need to unbutton your pants then you have eaten too much. Becoming aware of hunger cues – whether is is that you are hungry or that you are satisfied after eating is important for weight loss.

Acknowledging your hunger and becoming aware of how much food your body needs at one time will help you keep off the pounds. One way to do this is to be present when you are eating. Don’t eat in standing up, watching TV or while on the computer.

In your food diary use a hunger scale to help you become aware of your hunger. Before you eat decide on a scale of 1-5 how hungry you are. One is not so much, 3 is moderately hungry, and 5 is starving. You should eat when you are at a 4 or 5. Use a similar scale for when you are eating. One is still hungry, 3 is satisfied, and 5 is stuffed. You should stop eating at 3 or 4 whether or not your plate is empty.
