Free Recipes! (lunch 2.26.09)

Thursday, February 26, 2009 16:42 No Comments

The early lunch worked well yesterday so I did it again today. I also have a walk with a friend planned for this afternoon so I had to get my lunch in before then. I had a simple yogurt with lots of almond slivers and a Kashi Trail Mix granola bar.

I will definitely need a snack later on but this hit the spot right now. It’s overcast here but the temperatures are rising…tomorrow they are saying 50’s! That would be a great treat for a Friday. I have been able to get some work done this morning which is always a good thing because it means I don’t have to stay up super late at night to get it all done. I am not sure what I am going to do for dinner yet but I just found two free recipes in the WIlliams Sonoma catalogue that sound fabulous…Caesar Salad with Poached Eggs and Black Pepper and Mustard Brasied Short Ribs!

I’ll be making one of these soon for sure! I also saw this cool baby food maker in there called Beaba Babycook. Will can’t eat solid food yet but I am interested in making some of it myself when the time comes. Has anyone used this? I’d love to hear your reviews if so! Thanks!

Soaking Excuse (breakfast 2.26.09)

Thursday, February 26, 2009 12:24 No Comments

I was lazy last night and I left the dinner dishes “soaking”. We use the term “soaking” as an excuse when we really don’t want to do the dishes…Mike loves to let things “soak” but last night it was all my plan to fill them with soapy hot water so that I could sit down and watch the Top Chef Finale!

topchef.JPGI have to say I was really hoping that either Carla or Stephan would win but it was still a good episode and obviously they are all amazing chefs! I start to think I am a good cook until I watch that show and realize that I am amateur at best. I will never be as good a cook as the contestants but seeing the beautiful creations they make inspire me to keep trying new things and use different ingredients that I have not used before. Every time I watch Top Chef I also get excited about Tom Colicchio — Mike and I both want to go to his restaurant Craft  next time we are in New York. Anyways, after I woke up I fed Will, did the dirty dishes (yuck) and ate breakfast. I tried Kashi’s new U cereal and really liked it! I also had some strawberries that tastes great. Time to get on with the day now – have a good one!
