Is “Diet” Food Healthy?

Wednesday, April 1, 2009 20:29

J0408856 A lot of people say they eat healthy but in reality they don’t. Many people are stuck in what I call "a diet food" mentality.  Most of the time these foods are merely low in calories and that's about it.  Just because they may be low-calorie doesn’t mean they are healthy.  And what is the point of losing weight if you aren’t healthy?  And do these foods even fill you up? Additionally, most of these highly processed foods are simply dead foods which offer very little in terms of real nutrition benefits. Many of the processed “diet” foods fit this category. This is no April fool's joke!

So what makes a food healthy for weight loss? Ideally it should be a whole nutrient dense food that is high in nutrients and fiber which fills you up without a lot of calories and of course taste good. And it shouldn’t have a lot of artificial ingredients if it is processed at all.
