Out for a Ride!

just don’t like biking. It hurts! (You know what I’m talking about…) Now and
then I’ll let a friend drag me to a cycling class she’s excited about, but I’ve
always found it boring–that is until the SELF Fitness Team sent me to try out
the RealRyder.
The RealRyder differs from other stationary bikes in the
sense that it’s, well, not as stationary. You’re not doing laps around a track
or anything, but the bike is steerable and can lean from side to side–just like
riding outdoors–so you’re working more muscles.
Though
a bit nervous, under the direction of Colin Irving, RealRyder Intenational
cofounder and competitive cyclist, I hopped on, and boy, was I surprised. It
was actually fun! I was enjoying it so much they actually had to hand me a
towel because I was starting to sweat. And I totally felt it the next day in my
arms and abs since you have to engage those muscles to balance, steer the bike
and lean. It was like packing a cardio and strength training session into one.

I Will Not Complain (lunch 4.28.09)

The winters are long and miserable here so now that the warm weather I have been wishing for has arrived I cannot wish it away, no matter how sweaty I am! Last summer it was tough to take the heat being pregnant, so that’s another reason not to complain now. I have been on the go all morning and just ate a quick turkey sandwich for a late lunch. I also snacked on a piece of banana bread which I grabbed as I ran into the house after class before driving Mike into work. ![]()
While I was already out in the car I went to Whole Foods because I wanted to get some seafood to grill for dinner – I got a nice piece of salmon and some big shrimp so I am all set there. I haven’t been to Whole Foods in a while so I just got my hands on the newest “Whole Deals” and they also have a “Green Calendar” for Earth Month out too. I can’t wait to read through them and see what’s in there! My friend is joining us for dinner because she too is a Biggest Loser fan and we always text back-and-forth during the show so we decided to watch it together tonight! Right now I am going to walk Bruce up to the dog wash because (1) he is dirty and needs the bath and (2) I think it will cool him down. Hope your day is as warm and sunny as mine is!![]()
