My Garden Needs Sun! (breakfast 5.28.09)
Thursday, May 28, 2009 13:19 No CommentsIt looks like another cool and damp day here – you would never know it’s almost June! I had hoped to go for a walk or meet friends at the park but it’s definitely not a good day for that. I have a few things I need to go and do outside of the house so that should pass some time and maybe the weather will improve by the afternoon (but I am not placing any bets on that). I need some sun so my herb garden can keep growing — it was doing so well but it could benefit from a few warm and sunny days! ![]()
For breakfast I had an easy bowl of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal and a banana. I am trying to get some emails answered this morning because I usually do that at night but I have a meeting to attend tonight so I won’t be home. I think Mike is going to take care of dinner which will be a nice break – hopefully Will behaves for him so he can get it made!![]()

Less of the Real Thing? (dinner 5.27.09)
Thursday, May 28, 2009 1:53 No CommentsAlthough it took some effort on both the preparing and the cleaning end of things – I made a lasagna with homemade sauce for dinner tonight. It was a gray day, cool and damp from start to finish so I wanted something warm and comforting. I was able to devote the time to making this dish because Mike was home to play with Will while I worked in the kitchen. Although after all that effort I would have liked to have just eaten a huge plate of lasagna, I did make a salad and had that on the side too. I am a believer in eating a small serving of “the real thing” (whatever it may be) with sides of healthier items to help fill me up on less calories. I have leftovers from this meal and I made two additional small lasagnas (2-servings each) – one for my grandmother and one for our freezer. I am always happy to put the effort into a dish like this when I know I get a few meals out of it. ![]()

I brought some snacks with me to swim class and I was glad I did because I was hungry when I got out of the water! I had my choice of goldfish and trail mix — I had a handful of each since they were appealing for different reasons.

since I can get some extra sleep, I will!
What do you prefer to do – eat a small portion of a high calorie (very tasty) food or a larger portion of a lower calorie (less tasty) food?
I know that not all diet foods are less tasty but for this question, lets pretend they are. You can comment on a meal example, a dessert or just one individual food item (like cheese, chocolate or peanut butter). I love to hear the different opinions – there is no right or wrong!!
