Summer Vacation? (breakfast 6.29.09)
Monday, June 29, 2009 11:17 No CommentsI am starting to think a summer vacation needs to be planned…to somewhere out of the Northeast! This weather we are having is really getting to me. I put up with the nasty New England winters because I love the summer and fall but we have already lost a whole month of summertime to rain. Maybe July will bring sun and warmth because June definitely didn’t. I have been eyeing a jogging stroller because that seems like the only way I am going to get back into running but with this rainy weather there is not much motivation to go out and spend the money because I won’t even be able to use it! I have taken recommendations from friends and think I want a B.O.B. but does anyone else have a recommendation for a good one?
I am up early this morning trying to help Mike get set for his work trip and thinking about what I’ll need to pack for my trip to my parents house. I am probably going to be there through the weekend which is the longest I have been away from my house since having Will. I can’t even imagine what my car is going to look like…or how I am going to pack it myself but I’ll figure it out. For breakfast I had a bowl of Cheerios (we always have them in the house now) with skim milk and a banana. I have been perfecting my latte-making skills and I went all weekend without going to Starbucks – I can’t remember the last time that happened. I have even been able to get Mike to cut back his trips which is something I never ask him to do because it’s a nice outlet from his busy, often long workdays. With all this money we are saving maybe we really will take a vacation somewhere warm!
Boil Carrots Whole for More Nutrients
Monday, June 29, 2009 10:06 No CommentsOne of the more intriguing news stories to catch my eye recently was a report on research that boiling carrots whole locks in more nutrients – especially falcarinol, an anti-cancer compound. The study was led by Dr Kirsten Brandt of Newcastle University in the UK, and was presented at NutrEvent in France. …
[Forum] I’m Sick of Not Being “tinytasha”
Monday, June 29, 2009 9:50 No CommentsForum Post: For many years my chat handle in all things has been “tinytasha.” Not that I was so tiny, but my cat Tasha was. When I started spending time online, I was a fairly decent size and weight, not especially fit,…
Weekend Wrap-Up (6.27.09-6.28.09)
Monday, June 29, 2009 3:29 No CommentsThese last few weekends have been packed with fun — this weekend was much more laid back. I had my fun on Thursday and Friday of last week so it was fine with me to stay in these last couple of days. Mike is traveling for work this upcoming week so he was busy getting set for that. Will and I spent some time with Nana (my grandmother, his great-grandmother) and doing things around the house. Poor Will is still working on getting those teeth through his gums so I have been playing off his mood / schedule rather than setting the pace myself. We will likely be heading to my parents house tomorrow or Tuesday because I don’t like being here in Boston by myself with both the dog and the baby to take care of. I did a mini shop today (just one dinner, food for Will and some easy lunch things) because I didn’t want to load up the fridge then leave. Here’s a round-up of what I ate this weekend…boring compared to Friday’s great meal!![]()
Green Tea Fights Prostate Cancer
Sunday, June 28, 2009 10:00 1 CommentFlickr: miss karen Looks like the Siamese cat is out of the bag! Experts have discovered consuming green tea may slow the progression of prostate cancer. Some suggest great tea has many health benefits, such as halting Alzheimer’s disease, reducing the negative effects of cholesterol and preventing cancer. But, these are largely unproven claims. Worldwide, the tea market is worth…
