Calorie Cutting Made Easy
Thursday, July 16, 2009 22:56 This week I will offer some simple yet effective ideas for making cutting calories relatively painless. Eliminating just even one or a few of these food choices or implementing a new strategy on a regular basis could help you lose some unneeded weight.
Start your dinner meal (it’s typically the largest meal of the day) with a healthy salad of baby greens, top with additional veggies and maybe a small amount of nuts and a light vinaigrette dressing. Consuming a salad takes more time to eat which gives your stomach and brain time to connect with the fullness factor meaning you’ll end up eating less when you go to consume the rest of your meal.(Also check out ND's Fullness Factor to help you consume fewer calorie foods while filling you up.)
Eliminate liquid calories in general. Watch your intake of high sugar coffee drinks, alcoholic and soda beverages. Often we think that these liquid calories don’t count but they can actually add up quite quickly.
Coffee drinks can contain as many calories as a big meal. That's why they offer a menu of options.
Fancy alcoholic drink can pack in the calories too. It is frequently the mixes (even innocent tonics) that can add up pretty quickly not to mention the fact that after a few drinks the resolve to eat less is frequently ignored.
Sodas contain about thirteen teaspoons of sugar in a twelve ounce can. Need I say more on that topic?
With so many flavorful exotic teas, Zevia, and essence flavored waters that are available these days it's easy to make the trade.
Later this week I'll cover other ways to save some calories.
