Air Conditioning Isolation (dinner 7.30.09)
Friday, July 31, 2009 2:38 No CommentsSince my plans with my sister fell through earlier in the week we got together tonight instead. We all went out to dinner at a local place because I never made it to the gas tank filling station (too scared with the baby in the car). It had cooled off a little by dinner time so we got a nice table outside and enjoyed our meals al fresco. I had a flank steak salad with tomatoes, asparagus, mushrooms and caramelized onions. I am happy to wrap this day up now and know that tomorrow is finally Friday! This week dragged on and I blame that on the isolation that air condition causes — I feel like we stayed cooped up inside too much. This weekend I plan on spending a lot of time outside to make up for this week indoors!![]()
This Meal Provides Approximately: Grains = 1 ounce (-whole, I had a roll before dinner), Vegetables = 2 cups, Meat & Beans = 3-4 ounces, Oils = 3 teaspoons
I also had some trail mix this afternoon (raisins, craisins, honey roasted peanuts, cashews and dark chocolate chips)
I Chew Gum When I Swim!
Friday, July 31, 2009 2:31 No Comments
I know I’ve mentioned this before but…I’m a gum chewer! I run and chew gum. I ride my bike and chew gum. And NOW I hit the pool for laps with a stick of gum in my mouth too. I chew it while I’m swimming to keep my mouth from drying out and for the “flavor burst” of energy that I need by lap 40, but turns out there’s more reasons for me to keep chomping while I workout. Read Diet Confession: I’m a chain chewer. Chewing gum actually reduces stress and increases alertness! Nice, maybe that explains my faster 1/2 mile swim time tonightJ

Sorry Bostonians…I Jinxed Us! (lunch 7.30.09)
Thursday, July 30, 2009 20:17 No CommentsSorry fellow Bostonians, I definitely jinxed us this morning when I said we have dodged the rain storms. Just as soon as I got back from my run this morning the skies opened up and we got a soaking! I hope nobody got caught in that, I know I would not have been happy if I had. I missed class with Will on Tuesday so we went today which was right at lunch time and I didn’t have time to eat before we went. After we got out I stopped at a bagel shop to get a sandwich and to feed Will his lunch. I had hummus and veggies on whole wheat which filled me right up and we were on our way home. I picked up a half dozen fresh bagels for the house so you’ll be seeing those on here the next couple of days. I am hoping to get the gas grill tank filled this afternoon so we can have a simple healthy dinner on the grill. I don’t know what scares me more, using the grill (specifically lighting it) or traveling with the tank in my car!![]()
