Chit-Chat During Exercise

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 21:01 No Comments

IMG_3765.JPGWhat’s your take on chit-chat during an exercise class? I’m still weighing in. Some mornings hearing quick bits about someone’s vacation is fun and makes the walking lunges during Boot Camp feel easier. Other day’s side conversations during class feel more like a distraction and keep me from pushing myself harder. Are you a class chatter, or do you save the talking for after your sweat sessions. Sandwich & No Sides (lunch 7.15.09)

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 18:45 No Comments

I had to eat just a quick sandwich for lunch with no side dishes even. I am running around today trying to get things done – one priority is preparing for my news segment tomorrow and the other is baby proofing my house (gates, plugs, cords, etc) because if Will wants to get somewhere now, he can! I am overdue for a visit to my grandmother’s so that’s why I am rushing around now in order to leave enough time to get there later. I’m sure I’ll grab something out of the pantry to snack on in a little while but for now the sandwich was good.

I love the summer in New York. I just can’t get enough of
it. And for the past three years, part of that summer love has had to do with
my attempts at surfing. But between work, travel, other obligations, and the
New York coast’s not-always-great summer swell (and my aptitude for pretty much
nothing above 4 feet), I’m lucky if I hit decent waves once a week.
“Try” is still the operative word I use to describe my surfing–it’s
a long, patience-demanding learning curve. So when Self’s fitness department
got an invitation for a beachside yoga class/surf lesson combo, courtesy of Liquid Yoga and Surf I jumped at the chance to check it out!

Q. Your website states that certain meats contain trans fat. I was under the impression that trans fat is man-made and occurs only in things like hydrogenated & partially hydrogenated oils, not natural foods. Was I wrong about that? A….
