I Need Super Nanny (breakfast 9.18.09)
Friday, September 18, 2009 12:12 No CommentsI am ready to call Super Nanny to help me with my baby who no longer believes in sleeping through the night. I have seen her work miracles on her show and I am starting to get desperate. I still think it’s partially from his teeth, but I am wondering if I could/should be doing something different when he does wake up. I’ve tried all the commonsense stuff and I am trying not to resort to tactics I don’t agree with but it’s tempting when you are so tired! We are up for good now and ready to start the day. I had a mini bagel and a half with peanut butter and a banana for breakfast. I am definitely getting a latte when I drive my cousin to the airport this morning! Besides that we don’t have too much going on. It’s going to be a nice day so I’ll be taking a walk or going for a run later…depends what kind of energy I have. ![]()
This Meal Provides Approximately: Grains = 1.5 ounces (+whole), Fruit = 0.75-1 cup, Milk = 1.5 cups (latte coming soon), Meat & Beans = 1.5 ounces, Oils = 3 teaspoons

So, no matter what side of the debate you fall on, we can all agree U.S. healthcare is broken and needs to be fixed fast, before it gets worse. And some health experts…
Chicken Fajitas, Take Two (dinner 9.17.09)
Friday, September 18, 2009 1:44 No CommentsI think I am truly on the mend now. I am feeling a lot better and I even ate my chicken fajitas tonight for dinner. I only had one when I would usually have two but I think that is a good start considering last night I didn’t have any dinner. I still plan to get a good night of sleep because that goes a long way — especially with my crazy little Will who is non-stop action when he is awake! The dishes are done and the house is picked up so there is no excuse for me to be up later than I want to be. I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday already – this week seemed to go by very quickly despite the bumps in it. It looks like the weather is going to be nice both Saturday and Sunday so I am hoping we get to do some activities outside as a family. I better not have just jinxed it!![]()
This Meal Provides Approximately: Grains = 3-3.5 ounces (50% whole), Vegetables = 0.5 cup, Milk = 0.25 cup, Meat & Beans = 1-1.5 ounces, Oils = 1 teaspoon, Discretionary Calories = 5-10 kcals (reduced fat cheese)
Challenges with Low-Fat Diets
Friday, September 18, 2009 0:58 No CommentsRecently a reader responded to one of my blogs by saying there are three types of diets that don’t work. This week I would like to clarify his points. He said that low-fat food plans do not work. The reader…
Treating a Pulled Hamstring
Thursday, September 17, 2009 23:06 No Comments
Ugh, I think I may have pulled my hamstring the other night! I felt a twinge up the back of my leg while I was running and decided to cut my run short. When I got home I iced my hamstring right away, and then took yesterday off. It feels better today but after a low impact aerobics class it’s still a little tight. I’m going to take it easy for the next few days and stretch so hopefully I’ll be ready for Sundays War at the Shore Triathlon (my last of the season, then I’m putting my bathing suit away until next summer). I also grabbed some Epsom salt from the store to toss into the bathtub. And now I’m off to my first PTO meeting at the elementary school.
