World’s Fattest Nations
Thursday, December 24, 2009 20:54 If you had asked me before I read this survey I would have bet you anything that the United States was #1 on the "World’s Fattest Countries" list… but I would have been wrong.
One third of the world's adult population is now overweight and 10% are obese. Those are pretty frightening statistics and they seem to be on the rise ever since Western style eating and technology has made fast food and a more sedentary lifestyle more popular in the East.
Here are the Top 10 fattest nations in the world and the percentage of the population that is overweight in those countries:
1) American Samoa, 93.5 percent (of population that's overweight)
2) Kiribati, 81.5 percent
3) U.S., 66.7 percent
4) Germany, 66.5 percent
5) Egypt, 66 percent
6) Bosnia-Herzegovina, 62.9 percent
7) New Zealand, 62.7 percent
8) Israel, 61.9 percent
9) Croatia, 61.4 percent
10) United Kingdom, 61 percent
Over the next few weeks as we jump into the New Year I’m going to do my best to give you fun and effective ways to make fitness a bigger part of your life so that you can keep yourself from being a statistic!
