Top Diet Trends of 2009 – 2
Wednesday, December 30, 2009 14:14Monday I blogged about some of the top diet trends of 2009. The list did not end there - here are more trends of this past year...
Organics - This year we became much more aware of where our food comes from and what's in it. Although reports came in that organic produce may not more nutritious then conventionally grown produce we still made it an important aspect of our lives. These are the must buy organic foods - also known as the "dirty dozen"
P90X - this is a home fitness system from beachbody.com that many followed and it claims that you can get ripped in just 90 days. There is a diet plan to go along with this 3 day a week workout. I have not had experience with this but let us know if you have.
Resveratol - like acai berry is a powerful antioxidant that can help prevent certain cancers and promote heart health. It comes from the skin of grapes and is in red wine, but the big boom of all the resveratol pills on the market making claims that it is a miracle cure for health and weight loss is just not realistic.
Spinning - this challenging workout can burn up to 1000 calories in one class. Instructors lead you through different rides such as interval training or hill rides. If you have never tried a spin class I suggest you have. It is tough at first but it is really a good workout. One of my resolutions for 2010 is to spin 3 days a week!
Fitness Video Games - on the market came Wii Fit. Video games that now get you off the couch to help burn calories instead of making you into a couch potato. I think this is one of the best things that came out of 2009 and although I don't own one I have had a lot of fun playing on it at friend's homes who do have it. If the gym is intimidating to you I think you should get into the Wii Fit for your 2010 fitness goals.
Childhood Obesity - this is one of the most unfortunate trends of the year. These early weight problems are causing what are normally adult diseases such as diabetes and heart disease to appear in children. There are so many reasons for this occurrence such as lack of nutrition education and abundance of convenience foods. I hope the attention this is getting will help children get the help they needs to eat better and exercise more and that this is one trend that is not going to be a big issues in 2010.
Let us know which if these trends you have had experience with. What do you think will be the fitness and weight loss trends of 2010?
