I watched a television show last night and it was about people who suffers from fat phobia in different ways.

One lady had bad experiences in her childhood where a former school teacher of hers had been severly obease and been mean to her. This had according to her created a fear of fat people. The Tv crew then wanted her to confront her phobia and arranged a meeting between her and a 20stone woman. The lady paniced. Starting to hyperventilate and got blurred vision. The whole programme was about her going through hypnotherapy to overcome her phobia. At the end, it worked and she was able to shake hands with the 20 stone lady.

I have heard about phobia for spiders, for open areas, for small areas... but never for fat people. I had problems taking this girl seriously. Ok, fair enough she had bad experiences in her childhod which created a fear for fat people and she was clearly under a lot of pressure first time confronted by the over weight lady.

But come on--fat phobia?
