It’s Not All about Just Eating less…

Its not all about just eating less There have been a few comments lately from people who have stated that all anyone has to do to weigh less is to eat less…

I'm a big proponent of simplifying plans as much as possible to meet objectives, but I think the above statement goes a little too far. It’d be like saying that all you have to do to become a great public speaker is to practice more speaking in front of crowds…

They both seem like pretty simple things to do in order to accomplish a goal, but unfortunately neither statement addresses the human component of either goal.

For example you can’t just "eat less" without first having a plan on how to choose healthy foods from all the deceptively marketed items claiming to be healthy and low-calorie. Plus, as anyone who has ever dieted before knows that you can’t drop your calories too low for too long before there are long-term metabolic and emotional consequences to be paid.

Also, just like public speaking it’s one thing to know what to do, but a whole other ball game to actually follow through on it. Committing to any action that we do not feel in control of leaves us with quite a bit of anxiety that turns an ordinarily calm event into a terrifying situation. The same type of anxiety most people feel at the thought of public speaking can also take place among people attempting to lose weight. I have found this experience of anxiety surrounding food and weight loss to be very common among hundreds of clients whom I’ve worked with to lose weight, which is why I feel it is unfair to those who want to lose weight to be told all they have to do is “eat less.”

In my next post I will show you a technique that should reduce your anxiety by at least 20% and in turn help to gain more control over your weight loss mission!
