Another New Diet?

Healthier weight loss programs endorse losing weight the good old fashioned way by losing it slowly and sensibly, not that we would all like it that way in reality. Let’s face it how many times have you said or heard the phrase, "I just need to see the results right away to stay motivated!” Well the Mayo Clinic has gotten on the band wagon in regard to the fast weight loss game too.
That advice kicks in later on page 69 of ("The Mayo Clinic Diet") but only after an initial "Lose it!" phase that promises a weight loss of 6 to10 pounds in two weeks. Why is this venerable institution endorsing a quick weight loss in the first diet it has ever produced? U.S. News asked Donald Hensrud, medical editor-in-chief of the book and chair of the division of preventive, occupational and aerospace medicine at Mayo Clinic: So why the changes now?
The Mayo Clinic says now’s really the time. There is just too much misguided information regarding weight loss, which is true. They claim they have evidence based, safe, effective practice and an enjoyable way to lose weight. One concept they implement is adding five good healthy habits and subtracting five bad habits, the idea being if you don’t make some practical lifestyle changes in eating habits you just won't get the results you are looking for. Makes sense to me. They imply this should empower people more and help them realize they can do it. In the second phase of their diet they encourage a “Live it!” program where hopefully people take on the positive eating habits as part of their real lifestyle ….and then it's still back to the slow and steady part.
Have any of you readers been on this diet? What do you think? Would it work for you?
