Stretch for Greater Results
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 23:45 I've written articles before on the various health benefits of stretching, but today I wanted to share another reason that may get you to include some flexibility movements into your daily routine.
One reason that you may not have heard of before as to why you should stretch is that by increasing your flexibility you can actually get greater body transformation results. The reason is that if you can use a full range of motion in an exercise you will be able to better activate the muscles your are targeting. This fuller range of motion will create a greater “eccentric” stretch and more demand on your body which in turn should increase the intensity of the workout. As a result, you should get improved results even if your weights stay the same.
Of course, you should only work within a safe range of motion that is natural for your body and if you’re particularly stiff you will need to ease into using a deeper stretch during your exercises.
