Weight Loss Report Card: What Grade Do You Deserve?

Friday, May 28, 2010 22:15

Weight loss grade As you know from your years in school you are graded based on the results you put forth.

If you excel, follow the assignments, do your work, and prepare for your exam then you most likely got an "A." Sometimes, though, you maybe did a little less than you should have and earned a "B" or "C."

This same grading system can easily be applied to your weight loss goals as well. You may not be preparing to pass a school test, but you are working towards losing weight. This means you need to go about it the same way by following your assignments, putting forth a full effort, and focusing on the exam (your weekly weigh-ins or body composition analysis).

I think giving yourself a grade half way through the day or at the end of each day to correspond with how well you abided by your weight loss regimen will be helpful in seeing the big picture. Plus, if you're already keeping a weight journal this will be a nice addition and a way of looking at your entire week leading up to the weigh-in to project how you may do.

Just keep in mind that success is cumulative and just like a report card it takes into account the sum of many months of work, so don't be too hard on yourself for getting a bad grade or two. Learn from those mistakes and keep striving for an "A!"
