Try These Veggie Food-Flips
Friday, December 19, 2008 10:52 No CommentsWhile the jury’s still out on whether or not nutritional supplements are truly worth their rather hefty price tags, there’s little question as to whether vegetables can do a body good. However, not everyone enjoys the taste of vegetables (ask any 12-year-old kid what he thinks of Brussels sprouts and you’ll see what I mean). Does this mean these…
Impending Storm (dinner 12.18.08)
Friday, December 19, 2008 3:47 No CommentsAll in all today was a good day. I managed to check a couple things off of my list and I am in pretty good shape heading into Friday. This afternoon I loaded Will in the stroller and took Bruce to the park to throw the ball and have him chase after it. At first we had the whole place to ourselves but then other dogs came and Bruce wasn’t running after the ball anymore so we exited the park and took a short walk instead. It was pretty cold near the water where I live so we didn’t go far. This evening I met up with my brother and sister for dinner at Bertucci’s. I was home alone because Mike had a work commitment so I figured why not eat with company rather than alone. I think I will be mostly housebound tomorrow with the impending snow storm headed our way. I guess it is supposed to be rolling into Boston in the afternoon. I am glad it’s not in the morning because I want to go to the post office and the grocery store first thing. I do love how everything looks after a snow storm but anything more than a couple of inches causes major trouble in our neighborhood. I’ll tell you about that tomorrow!

Declining Food Offers
Thursday, December 18, 2008 21:41 No CommentsA teacher client came in the other day saying how she feels so pressured to eat the things her students so thoughtfully made for her. These “gifts” were homemade cookies. Her challenge was looking at her first grader’s cute little…
Stevia sweetened soft drinks come to U.S. market
Thursday, December 18, 2008 20:42 No CommentsFor years, the FDA has dragged its heels on approving stevia, an herbal zero-calorie sweetener, citing questions about its safety. (It has a long history of safe use in other countries.) Rumor had it that food industry giants were opposed…
Cookies!

Today I’m baking. Every year I whip up a few batches of cookies and send them to my wonderful neighbors and friends. I usually bake a few dozen here and a few dozen there and it’s done. Turns out this year the holiday season has crept up on me and the baked goods have suffered. So I’ve been knee deep in flour all morning and I’m not done yet. But to make the most of my time, while I’m baking I’m also tossing in a little toning (it helps balance out all of my tasting). I like to do a simple glut squeeze and release while I’m cracking the eggs, adding the sugar, and unwrapping the Hersey Kisses. Check out the first round of goods. Then tonight if the dishes are done, I’m headed to Zumba.
