3 Fun New Ways to Burn Serious Calories!
Friday, July 31, 2009 22:38This morning at 5:45 Boot Camp we did tons of jump roping during our circuit workout. I love it! Jumping rope burns big-time calories in a short amount of time. In fact, I’ve read that 10 minutes of vigorous jumping can yield the same benefits as a 30-minute jog. It’s also a great way to improve balance, coordination, and increase your endurance. Bonus: It’s a cheap piece of equipment! Of course, jumping steadily for 10 minutes can get boring, so incorporate some fancy footwork to spice things up:
Box Step-This is like the “Box Step” from dance. Turn rope with wrists, elbows bent and close to ribcage. Jump forward, then to the right, then backward, and then to the left, forward, to complete your square. Repeat for 30 seconds, taking a rest if you need to.
Three-peat-Turn rope with wrists, elbows bent and close to ribcage. Now try hopping 3 times on one foot, then 3 times on the opposite foot. Continue switching it up for 30 seconds.
Criss-Cross-Turn rope with wrists, elbows bent and close to ribcage. Continue jumping as you criss-cross your legs. Check me out in action!
