J0427652 Who would know…..“A small study from Swinburne University in Melbourne found that chewing gum effectively reduces anxiety by more than 17 percent during stressful situations. The study also showed that chewing gum increases alertness and improves performance while multi-tasking.”  Another study indicated similar and other findings.

But would chewing gum reduce stress enough to stop you from eating in response to it?

Personally I’m not a fan of chewing gum or observing those who are so rudely gum smacking and carrying on a conversation with you. However all things can have a place (when done politely) and it might just be a better substitute than reaching for a bag of chips when you are stressed out.

Readers, what do you think? Could it work? And what are your personal stress busters?
