We got football season kicked off tonight (Go Pats!) with a tailgate inspired meal – sausage with peppers and onions. We also had some french fries too. This meal could be considered pretty unhealthy if you were to buy it from a cart at the game but making it at home saved us some of the calories and fat. We used chicken sausage and lots of peppers & onions and we baked the fries instead of deep frying them. It was a fun meal to eat as the Patriots played in the background! This afternoon I shared a banana with Will for a snack after we took a nice walk along the water with Bruce. Thankfully the dog recovered well from his surgery and he is back to normal taking good walks with us – he hated having his activity limited!
This Meal Provides Approximately: Grains = 2-2.5 ounces (-whole), Vegetables = 1 cup, Meat & Beans = 4 ounces, Oils = 3 teaspoons, Discretionary Calories = 150 kcals (french fries)
