[Forum] Do I Simply Have a Slow Metabolism?

Hey y’all,
I’m a 23 year old female who has always struggled with weight, whether it was losing or even maintaining. I’m going to a weight loss center local to me, and they did a body composition and told me what percentage of my body is “fat,” and what is weight from my bones, hair, skin, etc.
The thing is, they are saying for my weight and height and all of the above, I should be comsuming 1,800 calories to maintain my weight, and to lose weight I should be at the least consuming 1,300 calories.
I have been doing this weight loss program for a couple months now, and I am happily down 25lbs. But, the only way I am losing weight (usually 2lbs a week) is if I eat between 800-1,000 calories. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, and I read everywhere that the least should be 1,200 calories for a woman.
I am eating throughout the day, and I also am not feeling hungry or weak, tired, etc. Those weeks when I did eat a little more each day I would not see any weight loss that week.
Another thing I’m considering is the fact that my mother went from being almost 300lbs to 130lbs, and she has been maintaining this weight for years. I know normally she eats around 600 calories per day.
Is there something wrong with us?? Do we just have slow metabolisms or something? I’m so confused…
