How to Track Your Progress with an Exercise Journal

In my last post I spoke about the need to keep an exercise journal as a way of tracking your progress and keeping yourself honest and today I want to show you a few of the key items you'll want to include. To keep it simple I’ve split them up into 2 categories for cardiovascular training and weight training.

CARDIO:
Dates completed
Intensity
Heart Rate
Rate of Perceived Exertion
Type
Distance
Duration

WEIGHT TRAINING:
Dates completed
Exercises
Sets
Repetitions
Weights
Time to complete

Remember, you don't need to get carried away with every nuance of your workout when it comes time to logging in the data, but you definitely need to have a fail safe way of tracking your progress and making sure you're moving in the right direction. Good luck and feel free to post any other statistics that you like to track!
