Omega-3’s Help Slow Age-Related Vision Loss
Friday, March 18, 2011 10:04High intake of omega-3 fatty acids may help prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in older adults; suggests a new study.
AMD is common among other adults, causing reduced sharp and central vision; making reading things like newspapers, phonebooks, and letters difficult.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 1.8 million Americans, 40 years and older, suffer from AMD. By 2020, that number could reach 2.95 million.
