Reader Comment on Exercise and Cheat Meals
Tuesday, April 6, 2010 23:20A few days back I wrote a post asking everyone how they handled the holidays. I was basically asking if you took the day off from exercising and eating well, or if you tried to stick with either one of them.
Although there were quite a few different comments, I agreed with Becky. She said, "I don't skip my workout on holidays – I would rather eat something ‘special’ that I don't normally eat."
I was also wondering if many of our studio clients did the same so I decided to take an informal poll. It turns out that the majority of our clients did eat at least something they wouldn’t ordinarily consume (like dessert), but they did still manage to fit in a workout (even if it was a short one).
Although it’s just my opinion, I think this is a really healthy way to handle holidays and special events in general. By working out before you are about to have a “cheat meal” and enjoy some tasty treats you can help counteract some of the effects those excess calories and sugar may have on you. It’s always been my plan and now I’m happy to hear a lot of other people share the same strategy!
