Sample Weight Loss Challenge for You
Saturday, April 10, 2010 23:02 After my last post on how you can use weight loss challenges to motivate yourself to lose weight I wanted to follow up today with a sample weight loss challenge on how to do just that.
First, you must determine the rules. Namely, what are the acceptable methods for losing weight during the competition or challenge? I recommend making everyone agree that they cannot use any dietary weight loss supplements and that there must be a lower limit on the number of calories consumed per day. That way everyone can begin to focus on how they can lose weight through all natural methods that they will be able to maintain for life.
Also, I would set an upper limit on how much exercise can be done. I would say that up to 60 minutes per day with at least one day off per week is acceptable. Remember, your goal is to find a system that will continue to work for you after the challenge is over.
I would determine how long the weight loss challenge will last for. At my studio we use 12 week body transformation contests, but you could even do something as short as 21 days to kick start your weight loss results.
Lastly, I would highly recommend that you judge the contest based on more than just what the scale says. I would opt for doing body fat testing to see who lost the most body fat – not just overall weight. The reason is that losing lean body mass will only hurt your metabolism in the long run, and therefore, that should be a penalty and not a reward in this type of healthy weight loss challenge.
I hope this sample weight loss challenge I laid out for you gave you a few ideas on how you can develop your own inner-office or friendly “competition.” It really can be a great way to bring the best out in everyone and to have a fun reason to begin losing weight together while sharing in a common goal.
