1. Fill up on less food. Eating more vegetables will keep you feeling full and satisfied on less calories. The fullness will also prevent you from overeating on high-calorie foods later in the day. 2. Monitor portions. Portion control is key when trying to lose the last five pounds. Make sure snacks are portioned out – don't eat out of the bag, container, or box. Don't forget to use your measuring utensils to keep to proper portions.

3. Eat mindfully. Pay attention to what you are eating to make sure you are truly hungry, and if you are, that you stop eating when satisfied.

4. Keep your food diary. Your diary has helped you reach this point and even with the last five pounds you should still write down what you are eating. Keeping a diary even after you have reached your goal to help you maintain your weight is beneficial too.
