Who Not to Share Your Goals with…
Thursday, August 13, 2009 19:37We often talk about building your own weight loss support group of friends and family, but what is sometimes omitted is who you shouldn’t tell your goals to…
What I mean by that is there are certain people who don’t want you to succeed. Can you think of why that would be?
The truth is that if you succeed it may make them feel bad about themselves. If you don’t worry about your weight, they feel more at ease since they are less concerned about what they eat or about the lack of exercise they get. BUT, if you begin to make healthier choices and start losing weight they will feel a discomforting voice inside telling them to keep up with you, to lose weight, and to start taking better care of themselves.
And of course all of those new choices take effort (and change) which most people fight against…
The point is I believe that you DO need a support group of friends and family, but I would just be careful who you tell in the beginning. That way there you will only receive positive reinforcement for your actions and you won’t hear any of the cristicisms that may hold you back from achieving your goals.
