World’s Fattest Woman’s Race Against Time
Friday, December 17, 2010 10:02UPDATE — RETRACTION
We have been contacted by the subject of this post, Ms Smith, who requested that we remove her photo. She claims that those who did the original interview – Barcroft Media misled her, and details in the press are inaccurate.
She says “I am not the world’s fattest woman. My doctor did not say he wanted me to go to any zoo for a MRI. I am able to move, and roll on my own. I never said “the weight just creep[s] up on you” nor “I cannot exercise”.”
Out of respect for her wishes we have removed her photo. Please understand that Ms Smith is a real person. She reads the comments you write, and agreed to do a story so that it might serve as a warning to others to look after themselves.

At 700lbs, Ms Smith, a 49-year-old woman finds herself in an urgent situation. In need of an MRI for her brain, she is unable to move, stand or roll on her own.
To make matters worse, even if she does manage to escape the confines of her home, she is far too big to fit in an MRI machine. They even considered using the MRI at the city zoo, but the zoo doesn’t have the appropriate accreditation to conduct MRI’s on humans.
