Yoga Decreases Back Pain
Friday, September 4, 2009 16:34After a 3 year study on back pain where all participants completed two 90-minute classes per week researchers found that people reported less low back pain.
They also said that the participants were better able to move around and that their depression had improved compared with the control group.
Although other factors may have contributed to the back pain improvements, the Iyengar yoga could certainly have played a large role. Iyengar is very form based and focuses strongly on posture and proper alignment. So if you’re fearful of going to the gym and lifting weights because of your lower back pain, you may want to see if yoga could be the solution to your pain.
