You Must Have a Powerful “Why”
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 22:05This is one of the biggest secrets to success in any endeavor.
I've found that the people with the greatest reasons to succeed are by far the most successful at actually seeing their goals through. Their big reasons “why” help them persevere through the tough times that all of us face on the road to attaining our dreams, hopes, and goals.
I was also just reading an article related to weight loss that summed this success principle up very nicely. The author said, "Planning is more effective when people think abstractly, keep an open mind, and remind themselves of why they want to achieve a goal.”
My suggestion is that you write down your top 3-5 reasons on an index card of why you must achieve your health, fitness, and weight loss goals and keep that card with you throughout the day. That way you can pull it out from your pocket whenever you need a reminder or a motivational boost “when the going gets tough!”
